The Natural Beauty of Rishikesh

Friends, Rishikesh is a place which is also known as the city of Lord Shiva. Rishikesh is a city situated on the banks of the Ganga, and it is especially famous for adventure activities. The water of the Ganga in Rishikesh is very cool, fresh, and comes from the mountains. The water is so cold that even if you wash your hands in it, they become numb. And this is the symbol of the purity of the Ganga water.

Rishikesh is also known for its waterfalls. There are many small forests in Rishikesh, and these waterfalls are hidden in the middle of those forests. Because these waterfalls are natural, they are so attractive and beautiful that whoever comes here does not feel like going back.

Rishikesh also has many man-made places like Ram Jhula, Laxman Jhula, Sita Setu, and Triveni Ghat, which make the beauty of this city even more charming. These waterfalls of Rishikesh are located at such a height that it takes about 1 to 2 hours to reach them. And during this journey, the views that you get to see are very beautiful.**

River rafting is one of the most famous activities of Rishikesh, which every traveler wishes to do. Because I believe, if someone goes to Rishikesh and doesn’t do river rafting, then there is no use of going there. During river rafting, when we reach in the middle of the water, they make us jump into the river with a life jacket, and we float on the surface of the water. And honestly, the feeling at that moment is truly mind-blowing.

It has its own unique fun, and the thrill during that jump is truly next level. From up there, the whole of Rishikesh can be seen – the water, rocks, and forests below make it even more exciting. 5. Paragliding

Paragliding – This is one such adventure activity in Rishikesh which happens without very high safety. In this, a person is pushed down from the slope of a mountain with a big cloth. As soon as air fills into that big cloth, because of the strong flow of wind and the pressure on the cloth, the person starts flying in the air. This cannot be properly understood without seeing it, so it is better to look at the picture above.

  • Check the rafting season
River rafting is only open from September to June. During monsoon (July–August), it’s closed. If rafting is on your list, plan your trip accordingly.

  • Wear comfortable clothes and shoes
You’ll be walking on ghats, trekking, or rafting—so skip the heavy jeans and heels 😅. Light cotton clothes and good shoes will make your trip easier.

  • Carry some cash
Not every local café or shop accepts cards/UPI. Small cash notes will save you from unnecessary hassle.

  • Try the local food
Street-side chai, aloo parathas, and lassi are must-haves. And don’t miss out on famous spots like German Bakery or Beatles Café.

  • Respect the culture
Rishikesh is a spiritual town. Alcohol and non-veg aren’t easily available. At ghats and temples, wearing simple and modest clothes feels more appropriate.

  • Don’t miss the Ganga Aarti
Attending the evening aarti at Parmarth Niketan or Triveni Ghat is magical. Put your camera down for a while and just soak in the experience.

  • Prioritize safety in adventure activities
Whether it’s rafting or bungee jumping, always go with certified operators. It might cost a little extra, but your safety is worth it.

  • Keep time to relax
Rishikesh isn’t just about adventure. Spend a morning in a yoga session or simply sit by the Ganga at sunrise—it’s the real charm of this town.
